Unlike a few years back, when the upper class society of Jakarta had to to Singapore or Hong Kong for shopping, today shopping malls around Jakarta carry most of the imported brands and fashions for those who can afford them.
With the spread of a myriad of new shopping malls, Jakarta has achieved its ambition of duplicating Singapore's success as one of Asia's foremost havens for purchasing almost anything.

Imported luxury items are sold at prices competitive with Asia's other major shopping centers. English is widely spoken and friendly, attentive service is guaranteed.

Transportation ..
When looking at the salary offered you could be worried about how you would make ends meet but please bear in mind that prices here are generally very much lower than in western countries or even in other big cities in Asia.

For example, a taxi ride into the centre of Jakarta will cost about Rp. 20,000 (US$ 2.50). Eating in restaurants is relatively cheap and many of our teachers never even think about cooking at home. A 'Big-Mac' from McDonalds costs Rp. 11,000 (US$ 1.25), fried rice or satay will cost about Rp. 8,000 from a small restaurant and about Rp. 3,000 from a street vendor (less then 50 cents).
